Coleochaete in Nature

The photograph below shows several species of Coleochaete growing on a boat propellor recovered from Lake Tomohawk, Oneida Co., WI. The conspicuous thallus with concentric rings of zygotes in the upper center is probably Coleochaete orbicularis, and is close to 2 millimeters in diameter (Photograph by Charles Delwiche).
