Each summer the College of Chemical & Life Sciences invites 100 rising high school juniors and seniors to participate in a week-long science immersion program. Students engage in inquiry-based projects, attend seminars and workshops, and interact with Chemical & Life Sciences undergraduate students and faculty. Students considering a career in the sciences will have the opportunity to learn about the research process and experience the excitement of discovery. Participants will spend the week working in our freshman biology laboratories. Past Jump Start programs have focused on forensic science, biomedical science, biotechnology and animal physiology and behavior.

The Catalyst Seminar
By invitation only

One hundred academically talented students are invited to enroll in the Catalyst Program and its one credit seminar course in the spring of their freshman year. The program facilitates the interaction among new students and faculty investigators through a series of weekly seminars, workshops and informal coffee hours. Participants will be introduced to the research process, meet potential faculty research mentors, and receive guidance in the preparation of an HHMI Undergraduate Research Fellowship proposal.
