Catalyst Seminar
BSCI 279C
March 5, 2009
Instead of having a regular class meeting on Thursday, March 5, you will
visit the 2009 HHMI Undergraduate Research Symposium and speak to two
HHMI Fellows who are presenting the results of their research. You can
stop by any time between 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM. The symposium will be
held in the Woods Atrium on the lower floor of the Chemistry Building.
During your visit to the symposium, you are encouraged to read as many
posters as interest you, but you are required to visit at least two.
For each poster you visit, ask the HHMI Fellow to describe their
research project, including its general significance. You must also ask
the HHMI Fellow three questions of your own choosing. These may relate
to the research itself, or can be general questions about why they got
involved in research, how they feel it has benefited them, etc. Write
your questions in the spaces provided on the handout and have the HHMI Fellow you spoke to
sign the sheet after you speak. Hand this in to me either at the
symposium or in class on March 12.
