- Travel Awards-
- Congratulations to Alison Heffer for her MOCB Travel Award to go to the 49th Annual Drosophila Research Conference in San Diego in April to present a poster entitled "Investigating the acquisition of segmentation function of fushi tarazu during arthropod evolution."
- Congratulations to Paul Clavijo, recipient of an MOCB Travel Award for 2007 to present his work at the Colorado meeting on "Signal
transduction in the immune system"

MOCB Retreat 2008 was our best ever. Thanks to all who
participated, including our keynote speaker, Dr. William Farrar from
NCI, and Matthew R. Clements from ROPES & GRAY LLP, who
spoke about careers in patent law. Special thanks to our very organized
student organizers, Vonetta Edwards and Alison Heffer.
Congratulations to Jaekwang Jeong for an Award for the best Poster
and to Jessica Miller for an Award for the best Talk at the
Retreat.

- Congratulations to this year's winner of the Zain Award, Abbhirami Rajagopal , who is doing her Thesis work in Dr. Iqbal Hamza's lab. Abbhi has identified novel heme trafficking proteins in C. elegans that are functionally conserved in vertebrates. Great work Abbhi!
