The Scholarly Paper

The scholarly paper is the capstone experience in the MLFSC program. It is a fully documented library research paper done in collaboration with a faculty mentor. Students working on the scholarly paper register for 3 credits of LFSC 608 over one or two sessions. Faculty mentors are chosen through a process that starts with the student suggesting several topics of interest. The Associate Director of MLFSC ( Dr. Bretton Kent, bkent@umd.edu) then works with the student to select a mentor from among the faculty. The Scholarly Paper is the capstone experience in the MLFSC program and, as such, is an important enterprise and must be carefully written. Students should refer to the attached set of guidelines/advice before and during the writing of the paper with the faculty mentor. It i important that the student contact the mentor and establish a working relationship as soon as possible.

Students should also be cognizant of the rules of plagiarism which are explained fully on a UC Davis website
