Lecture Series

The College of Life Sciences' Lecture Series brings distinguished scientists from around the world to speak and interact with our faculty and students. This exchange of ideas enriches the learning environment and is a way of reaching out to alumni and friends by inviting them to participate. These lectures also help to raise the profile of Maryland's research programs worldwide.

Russell E. Marker Lecture: Established 1988 by Russell E. Marker. Supports an annual lectureship in the Chemistry of Natural Products at UM. Recent speakers have included Dr. Dieter Seebach, Professor of Organic Chemistry from Zurich, Switzerland.

Russell E. Marker Lecture in Biochemistry: Established 1989 by Russell E. Marker. Supports an annual lectureship in Biochemistry at UM. Recent speakers have included Dr. Peter Moore of Yale University and Dr. Carlos Bustamante of University of California, Berkeley. Click here for more information on current lectures.

Gretchen Rollinson Memorial Fund: Established 1991 by Carl L. Rollinson, in memory of his wife, Gretchen Rollinson. Supports lectureships for outstanding authorities in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and other scholarly activities.
