A major strength of our program is its geographical location, within easy commuting distance of Washington, D.C. The University of Maryland is unique in its proximity to both state and federal capitals, as well as many of the major non-government organizations (NGOs), multinational banks, and federal agencies that dominate national and international conservation efforts. These places are the source of most of the policy that now underlies conservation efforts, and have become the source of internships, seminar speakers, and job opportunities for most of our graduates.

The CONS program is housed in the Biology-Psychology Building at the College Park campus of the University of Maryland. Walk in the south door from Hornbake Plaza, turn right out of the lobby, and we're the first door on the right, room 1201. The program Director and Associate Director are both faculty members in Biology, with offices on the fourth floor. Our building is about a hundred meters downhill from the Stamp Student Union. The free shuttle bus from the College Park Metro stop will drop you on Campus Drive across from the Student Union. There is a parking garage on the west side of the Student Union.
