Hemolytic Patterns

 

 

Alpha (α) Hemolytic: (partial hemolysis), a greenish zone of discoloration consisting of erythrocytes releasing a green derivative of hemoglobin

Beta (β) Hemolytic: (complete hemolysis), a sharply defined clear zone of complete hemolysis

Gamma (γ) Hemolytic: (non-hemolytic) no effect on erythrocytes
