This page is not used anymore. Please consult the syllabus.

In past years, this page was used to post supplemental articles (or links to articles on the web).
For information about what to read please consult the Syllabus. In fact, this page is entirely redundant. but is an attempt to list all of the supplemental readings (outside of the main texts) in one place.

Roeder. 1996. The role of general initiation factors in transcription by RNA polymerase II. Trends Biochem Sci. 21: 327-335.

Fitch 2000 Homology, orthology and paralogy.

Chalfie. 1997. Is the Traditional way of Teaching Three-factor Mapping Sufficient? Trends Genetics 13: 94-95.

Moynihan et al. 1998. Autozygosity mapping, to chromosome 11q25, of a rare autosomal recessive syndrome causing histiocytosis, joint contractures, and sensorineural deafness. Am J Hum Genet. 1998 62:1123-8. This paper provides an example of autozygosity mapping and the use of lod scores.

Lander and Schork 1994. Genetic Dissection of Complex Traits. Science 265::2037-2048. This is a great review of methods for the analysis of complex traits, but it has been scanned in, so the file is huge.

Rubin and Lewis 2000. Drosophila melanogaster: Portrait of a fruit fly. This is a historical review of work on Drosophila that touches on important methods for genetic analysis.
