Genomics Resources

The European Bioinformatics Institute EBI is an academic research institute located on the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus in Hinxton near Cambridge (UK), part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) whose mission is to provide freely available data and bioinformatics services to all facets of the scientific community in ways that promote scientific progress. There is a lot here.
Explore integr8, uniprot/interpro, intact and biomart biomart to see what's available.

GO. The Gene Ontology project is a major bioinformatics initiative with the aim of standardizing the representation of gene and gene product attributes across species and databases. The project provides a controlled vocabulary of terms for describing gene product characteristics and gene product annotation data from GO Consortium members, as well as tools to access and process this data.

Ensembl is a joint project between EMBL - European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) and the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (WTSI) to develop a software system which produces and maintains automatic annotation on selected eukaryotic genomes. Ensembl is continuously producing new website and data releases. Genomics data is integrated among species and data types.

UCSC browser
The U.C. Santa Cruz has incorporated large amounts of data that can be tied to genomic sequence. That data is presented in tracks that are aligned with the genomic sequence itself. You will especially note the exon/intron structure of the gene, any supporting data (ESTs or cDNAs) and comparative data.

Protein Information Resource
PIR is a highly cross-referenced database tied to protein data rather than genomic data.

Model Organism Databases
Model organism databases are tied to specific species.
