GEMS (Genetics
with Eukaryotic Model Systems)
A monthly group gethering among local researchers
who study eukaryotic model systems such as Arabidopsis, Drosophila
and C. elegans.
ATRIUM (Arabidopsis
thaliana Research Initiative at University of Maryland)
A monthly group meeting among local researchers who study Arabidopsis.
An anual mini-symposium is held in the spring of each year.
MAS-ASPB 2010 Spring Meeting
at University of Maryland
Every year the Mid-Atlantic Section (MAS) of ASPB (American
Society of Plant Biologists) holds a spring symposium (usually late
March) where graduate students and postdoc are encouraged to present
their data. Marsho Awards for Best UndergraduateTalk and Best Graduate
Talk are presented at the meeting.
Annual
Plant Biology Minisymposium at Maryland (2010)
This annual one-day minisymposium is held in early April
and back to back with the MAS-ASPB meeting. The symposium is well
attended by plant biologists from the Mid-Atlantic area and features
prominent speakers from Universities, Industries and Rsearch Institutes
in Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, North
Carolina, and South Carolina.
Annual
Crab Feast at ASPB headquarter (Rockville)
This annual event is held in a Friday in late Sept./early
Oct at the Headquarter of ASPB (American Society of Plant Biologists).
In addition to hot crabs, there will be hamburgers, hot dogs, free-flowing
beer and dancing to live music by the band Natural Selection. It
is a fun social even for all, including families.
