Paula Rodgers received the top award for the Best Student Paper at the 2007 Annual Meeting of the Society of Crustacean Biology in Coquimbo, Chile. Paula is co-advised by Marjorie Reaka (Biology) and Anson Hines (at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center). The title of the talk was "A comparison of sperm storage and mating strategies in brachyurans".

 

Paula Rodgers received an award for the Best Student Poster at the Invertebrate Reproduction and Development Conference, Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, in August 2007. The title of the poster was: "Patterns of sperm storage in crabs: A comparison of mating strategies and sperm allocation in brachyuran crabs."


Lisa Pfeifer won first place for best poster at the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS) Meeting in May 2007. The title of my poster was: "Nucleotide sequence variation of the oxytocin receptor (OXTR) locus in ethnically diverse human populations". Lisa's advisor is Sarah Tishkoff.


Wenzhi Tan receiving award

Wenzhi Tan was one of two winners of the Bioenergetics portion of the Student Achievement Awards Competition at the Biophysical Society meeting in March 2007. Wenzhi is advised by Marco Colombini. The title of his poster was: "The specificity of the interaction between G3139 and VDAC".
