Before studying overseas, I received my B.Sc. (1983) and M.Sc. (1990) from Shandong Normal University of China. In 1992 I began studying under the supervision of Dr. Nam-Hai Chua at The Rockefeller University and National University of Singapore. My PhD thesis was mainly working on molecular characterization and functional analysis of the Arabidopsis ADF gene family (PhD thesis of National University of Singapore; Dong et al., 2001, Plant Molecular Biology; Dong et al., 2001, Plant Cell). Before joining the Chang Lab I worked with Dr. Jian-Kang Zhu (UC-Riverside) on the cold signaling pathway in plants.

Currently I am working on identification and characterization of RTE1&2 interacting proteins using a TAP-tagging approach. The Arabidopsis RTE1 & RTE2 genes were cloned in our lab. Our results suggest that RTE1 is an important regulatory component of the ethylene signaling pathway. In order to further study the molecular mechanism of RTE regulators in ethylene responses in plants, we are interested in identifying RTE-interacting proteins and carrying out biochemical analyses of the pathway components, including protein localization, interaction and in vivo function.
