BSCI414: Recombinant DNA Laboratory, 3 credits

  • Prerequisite: BSCI 222. This course offers hands-on experience in performing recombinant DNA experiments. Current molecular biology techniques used for cloning genes, analyzing DNA and the gene products, and modifying the genes will be performed. Techniques include DNA isolation, restriction digests, DNA ligation, PCR analysis, transformation and site-directed mutagenesis. Lecture material focuses on interpretation of results generated in the laboratory. Acceptable toward Biological Sciences Specialization Areas: CMBG, MICB, PHNB, BGEN and GENB (Category 1). (Sponsoring Dept.: CBMG).
